New law gives renters 30 days to leave

PBPO News:

Governor Rick Scott signed 17 bills. HB 779 was one of 17 bills signed by Gov. Rick Scott. It protects renters from being evicted quickly. The bill was unanimously passed in both chambers. Tenants renting a foreclosed house must have at least 30 days notice to vacate it.

Scott also signed HB 5. This law requires that notice be given before any hearings regarding the appointment of emergency temporary guardians. The new law allows family members to mediate guardianship disputes and requires guardians to report abuse, neglect, and exploitation of wards.

There are currently 101 bills on Governor’s Desk awaiting action and 25 House bills still to be presented to him.
