Following recent samples that revealed “bad” levels of enterococcus bacteria, health officials have issued a “No Swimming” advice for Lantana Beach, according to a news release.
The testing at the beach revealed 120 colonies per 100 milliliters of marine water.
According to the announcement, the cause of the heightened bacteria level is still unknown, although it may be due to wildlife, heavy recreational use, high surf, high tides, or runoff after a period of severe rain.
Additionally, a “No Swimming” warning has been issued for the Dubois Park Wading Lagoon. A test result of 100 milliliters of marine water revealed 130 colonies.
